They call it the Silly Season. Not without reason! There are, as usual, all sorts of memes and lists and taggy things whizzing through the bloosphere. Most are harmless, if childish, fun. Some are downright stupid. And most are declined by me.

I find them badly-worded, rather like the questionnaires that are foisted on you in the High Street when your shopping basket handles are threatening mutiny and some twit wants to know : do you think Leon di Caprio was a good choice to play Napoleon? Or Errol Flyn?

Currently, there are, apparently, people who are interested in what other people have done.

Well, OK, it’s a slow day at the coalface, so here we go. Just “yes” or “no.” No further explanation or qualification!

As I said, some badly-worded; well, just look at #1! If you are really curious, you can ask. I may (or may not!) elaborate.

A friend in Auckland was sporting one of these stickers on her car and I HAD to have one, too! Not available in stores, Inger has just bought one at a Solstice Fayre for me and it arrived yesterday. I shall stick it, very prominently,  on my car window. (And hope to god the nut following is not very short-sighted!)

And, no, I don’t have movie-star-dark windows; I photographed it on the piano!

Jellyfish or not, that ocean looks inviting…see you next year, Eringla.

No, I will not swim if there are stinger warnings /beach closures posted. Sure, life’s a lottery and there may be stingers even if the beach is not closed. But when the life guards have done a sweep and found the little wretches …it aint worth the pain!

But before I go, you’re going to be my Guinea Pigs. I’ve been monkeying with my scanner (read: learning how better to use the damn’ thing!) and thought I’d show you one of the Possum Brigade that regularly turned up on the front verandah for handouts. Wildlife Rangers try to discourage people from feeding the natives (it makes them dependant, then, when the handouts stop, the natives find it difficult to adjust.) But, as I’ve said before, possums tend to make their own rules and we never over-fed them. small-cat_0001

  1. crikey!! this prompts so many questions that I don’t know where to start!!

I might have to pick it up in the new year – right now I have to get the roast potatoes on

    Merry Christmas, dinahmow

lots of love from SW15 XXX

  2. I only have 4 things to say to this:
    1. nice sticker! (is that what you were trying to send me??)
    2. nice legs!
    3.nice possum too
    4. I have been keeping score at Dave’s and he says he ran over a herd of Kangas, I say thery’re a troop, (or maybe a mob), what do you say??
    5. hope you’ve had/having a fab Xmas D!

  3. iltv…thankyou, and I hope you’re having fun in SW15.

    ziggi…1 yes (wonder what happened?)
    2 thanks!
    3 thanks
    4 mob
5 thanks and festive felicitations back to you.

  4. I’m with you; I don’t like questionaires, and blog awards that come with conditions. I don’t have the time and/or the patience to sit and answer/read them. Sorry.

As for the wild animals, well, I’ve already commented on that, too.

  5. You’ve had a full life! I’m now convinced Aussie possums are far more pleasant looking than North American ones.
Just got caught up on my jellyfish reading, all those little poisonous nasties, the price of living in paradise.

  6. Hi More Idle…

We enjoyed your list of have’s and have not’s.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and we wish you peace in the New Year.

    love, Pearl and Kim

  7. kate…you would have had fifty fits at our former house!
And I think other bloggers must understand that, sometimes, we have other things on our plates besides memes.

ellen…fascinating sea creatures;the photo I posted looks like a Christmas ornament! So much in the natural world that we know sod-all about. Some venoms are being tested for use in cancer treatments.

zizzi…It’s you, Pearl! I thougt it was Ziggi-with-a-typo!
Yes, thankyou, we did have a good Christmas. Good wishes to you and your family, too.

  8. 1. Thanks for doing the 100 questions – so many of your answers were the same as mine that I feel I’ve already done it. Can cross that off the list now.
    2. Of course our possums are better looking than those other ones. But gosh, I wish they’d get the hang of tiptoeing across the roof at night.
    3. I’m on tenterhooks just waiting for us all to be able to move to the Central Coast, to get into my new house and workshop, and to start making books. Just about best of all will be gardening in something bigger than a balcony. My 10 frangipanis are flowering in their pots and I’m sure they’ll love their new semi-tropical garden.

  9. carol…hey! I didn’t expect to hear from you til after The Move.
Silent possums? Now that would be good! And yes, those frangipanis will love their move as much as their gardener. (I’m supposed to be folding and punching signatures…slack, I am!)
