Let me count the ways…
Actually, no, let’s not do that. It would take too long!
But I’m currently side-lining other work while clacking away with my knitting needles. Why? Oh, just another artistic pursuit. Our annual Arts Festival kicks off next month and someone had the bright idea of “tagging” various local sites with knitting. Would I like to be “in” this venture, known as guerilla knitting?
This is what some of us have knitted so far…I expect by the time this show really gets going I’ll have more to show you. In the meantime, I have a few pictures on Flickr (see, to the right.) and Corinne, in Yellow Springs, OH, USA has some funky posts about it. And a new one here.
I was “in Brooklyn” earlier today, catching up on posts at one of my favourite blogs. Marie, of 66 Square feet has a post about something that appeals very much to me.
I am uneasy with the more conventional idea of “charity” and always prefer the idea of assistance rather than, as is so often the case, a hotch-potch of tatty old clothing. So her post about the Bicycle Portraits really caught my attention.
At first, I thought the “meet-the-target” proviso was a little harsh, but then I realised that it’s probably a far more realistic approach than the usual pledge appeals. Here’s a link to the Portraits site and what you do is up to you. Of course. But if you do want to help, please scoot over there now and make your pledge as time is running out.
Oops! I’ve just remembered that our electricity company sent a note to say they’d be switching off power today, to do some “emergency maintenance.” I’m not quite sure how they can plan, a week ahead, for an emergency, but I’d better post this now as the little man will be climbing up the pole in about 10 minutes…off to see how much knitting Geiger has “finished.”
