humour, art, gardens, books and whatever idle thoughts float through my mind (it's a very draughty mind.)

Can it possibly be more than 40 years since we (well, quite a few of us!) had serious sexual fantasies over this?

Of course, some of us still think Mr. Q. is dead sexy. And he’s dead!

In case you’re wondering what prompted this little dance down Memory Lane, think of this whenever you grind your molars at the sometimes lamentable radio broadcasts. This, my friends, had an airing on the ABC Classic station not 30 minutes ago, on the evening “Drive” show. (Just as well I was not driving! )

Edit. For the younger readers, here’s the original

I’ll be zipping around the blogs this week, but probably not posting. Why? Well, The Man is away on a junk–  business trip and I’m taking advantage of the vacant table space to spread all manner of arty stuff. Given the sharp decline in the weather, I’m going to need all the available space to get things dry.

  1. I listened to David Garrett again and still love him, then I watched the original Zorba – and to my amazement, I think I have to admit that I’d never seen that clip before, which leads me to think I’ve never, ever seen Zorba the Greek. I must be the only person in the western world who missed it. I missed a lot in that period, to do with chronic migraine and small children. So thanks for a new experience.

    • Carol…it’s worth renting! Actually, I need to watch it again as I’m sure all I really remember is A.Q.

    • you and me both carol (missing out on zorba – not as a result of chronic migraines and small kiddies!)

and I wish I could say ‘you and me both’ di about the weather ……grrrrrrr some states have all the luck (read – wet weather)

      from the dry south x

  2. ronnie…sorry about the non-rain.I do how you feel.
And you say you never saw “Zorba” either? I thought everyone knew that movie! 🙂

  3. loved the clip of the quintessential Q. makes me wish I were back in Greece

  4. I swear you make me want to come home and live. I mean, we can watch Zorba and drink Ouzo there. How are the barmy shores by the way? 😉

  5. Ange…welcome back (briefly!). Barmy shores -ha! Getting barmier as we struggle for government. Well, if you come today, bring an umbrella. And a sweater! ;-(
Oh, yes- please bring the movie, too. I went to my local video store and THEY DON’T HAVE IT! Little Miss Sweet 16 looked vaguely on a shelf of Van Dam offerings, then checked the computer list.

  6. Mr. Quinn is so hot he crashed my shockwave player and it took a while to watch this. He is a sexy man, I do remember my mother getting woozy watching Zorba the Greek, even though she had a fondness for the wimpier stars like David Niven. (I want that ring tone!, it’s great)

  7. Ellen…ha ha ha! That Tony Quinn still has the power from beyond the grave! Have you ever looked at any of his paintings?
(And, just for the record – David Niven was not exactly a wimp, y’know.;-) )
