THEY SAY IT MAKES FOR PERFECTION…

Hello! Here I am, whizzing  by.

Another busy day ahead…already I’ve done some humdrum domestic stuff, rattled the neighbours with my keyboard (not this, the musical one) practice, sorted through some papers I need for printing, watered the herbs (calmly and quietly, so as not to scare the little sunbird on her nest.)  and drunk enough coffee to make the chandelier look like fun!

And now I must scoot into town on errands and then I’m going to have some serious art discussions. Intrigued? Yes, of course you are! And, no, I’m not saying any more. For the moment. 🙂

I’ll leave you with this . Practice, right?

Update on the nest

It’s ridiculously low, about one metre above the deck! Attached to the striker thingy on a bamboo wind chime. Entrance on the left;the “bump” on the right is incubating room for the female.

  1. I will persevere! I will persevere (I’m doing the mantra too…. 2 days until I must send in my exegesis chapter – no matter what) I WILL PERSEVERE! I WILL PERSEVERE! (agghhhhh!!!!!!!)

    ps nice nest!

    • ronnie…you’ll make it. You always do . 🙂

And yes, the nests are cute. This one was built about 3 years ago;it was right where the door opened, so The Man very carefully raised it. When we had to move the bird (after some building work) we thought they’d go elsewhere. Nope! They reckon it’s prime real estate! 🙂

  2. Oh! I’ve never seen a sunbird – not sure whether they’re found in cities. Probably not inner city, anyway. Beautiful colour!
And that link to the bunny is too cute to bear! I think I’m going to cry! (hmm, must be hormonal…)

  3. Fascinated by the sunbird (nothing like that here) but also by your alter ego athlete, apparently clutching the bright torch of culture to thrust into dark places at the end of your/her run. Very metaphorical.

    • Christopher…ah, you need to be in tropical rainforest areas for these little gems.
And you spotted my suntanned “alter ego.” I thought she looked ready to bowl in a skittles match. But hey! I’ll accept ANY athletic/cultural metaphor these days! 🙂

      (How’s the back?)

    • Well, if I happen to be nearby with the camera, I’ll oblige, but don’t count on it. These little cuties shoot out of the nest, a brilliant yellow flash, just like mama.
And being so low-slung? yes, I am a bit concerned, but these birds have been doing their “thing” since long before we arrived. Mind you, I avoid going out that way if the cats are around.
But cats are not the only danger…bigger birds could (and do) take them out. It’s one of the chips in the Greater Game of life.

  4. Hi there… so glad you got to see the Cat Vs. Printer video because, really, it was one of the funniest I’ve seen in a long time.

Can’t wait to hear about the art discussions.

Your energy and enthusiasm is amazing.
