GREETINGS TO ALL

It’s that time of year when some of us race around, buying gifts for others (and sometimes for ourselves. ahem.) and cooking mountains of food and draping our homes in glittery tinsel and prickly holly swags.

Of course, those of us anywhere south of Cancer must factor in the likelihood of storms…so we tend toward the more practical.

With fans whirring and all windows open most dangling things very quickly land on the floor. So the token “Christmassy decor” is what you see on the header. There are some strings of small gold (yes, of course 24k!) bells wound around curtain poles and some more swinging from Β the pole finials.

And there will not be mountains of food or we’d end up with a mountain of moi.And moi is struggling already with her mountain. But there will be a prawn supper for 2 members of the menage. One of us is allergic and one of us thinks prawns are “kaka.”

Very low-key. But we have some flowers!

Top l to r.Frangipani, Hibiscus, Cassia

Bottom.Left. Antiginon; Β

Right.Tree,Picea glauca; Rose, “Abraham Darby” and daft bit of whimsy because Sporran likes fevvers.

I wish all of you happiness and love and the courage to meet challenges. And perhaps, even if you’ve been a wee bit naughty, a little something extra in your stocking.

Merry Christmas to all!

  1. And greetings to you and The Man, and the Furry Ones, on a steamy summer Christmas Eve morning. Just queued for half an hour to secure my 4 kilos of big prawns, played dodgem with my trolley in the supermarket and was home by 9:45am. Whew! Feeling virtuous, momentarily, at least. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and all your readers. πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸ

  4. And a merry one to you, Di! I was awakened by a smattering of snow plopping down on the skylight this morning (unusual here on the Northern California coast, but not unknown). It is almost hard to fathom your steamy hot holiday served with prawns. But whatever the weather, I do hope you have a lovely day! And I’m sure the girls would enjoy more dangling treats to play with….

  5. I like knowing it’s warm somewhere this time of year, though our weather is so topsy turvy recently we have daffodils, not snow. A very merry Christmas to you and I hope you have soft breezes ringing those little bells.

  11. I love the header decoration – it reminds me of a little mechanical octopus! And the frangipani are lovely (as are the rest of the blooms).

Your flowers are gorgeous! It’s supposed to be winter here, but it was so warm in December, flowers and trees that were supposed to be in sleep mode until springrime were budding and in bloom. Not sure what that’s gonna mean to our blooms come springtime.

    Have a super weekend!
