MORE MADCAP ADVENTURES COMING TO YOU FROM THE BUCKEYE STATE.

I’ve been soaking up as much of the local flora as can fit in my brain. My “fix” has to last as I’ve no idea when I’ll be back.

cherry flower

Probably the last of the blossom;cherries are starting to fatten. The wildlife will get most of ’em.

And this, we decided, is an Eastern White Pine (Pinus strobus )IMG_2171

Who is “we”? Ms Daisyfae and me. After our laugh-a-minute meeting in NY a few years I hoped another trip Stateside might come up.There was an invitation to “come visit” and the little ducks were all in a row.

I’ve been walking her dog and he, being  an old dog, is happy to set a slow pace.So I get to look carefully at all the trees I either don’t know or had forgotten. Isn’t the Internet  wonderful!

This is Cercis canadensis or “Redbud” to most people. IMG_2176

We’re on our way out to dinner very soon so I’ll keep this brief.Have a Honey Locust (Gleditsia triacanthos) while I apply some war-paint…IMG_2180

We had a wonderful day out in Yellow Springs and had lunch with an old blog friend and tomorrow is set to be a busy day so if I’m not back til I get home you’ll know why. Here’s  the “Absolutely Fabulous” Corinne from http://jafabrit.blogspot.com/p/jafatit.html  We found a marvellous shop choc-full of vintage glitz and glamour.Like these shades. You’re rockin’  them, girl!

  5. First: I love your new, rather eldritch, moon-through-the-trees header image!

Lovely flora – that redbud is very showy, isn’t it? Speaking of: you look very glam! Perhaps you should be driving a convertible?

  6. Ah, yes, the moonscape. That was in Florida and I was aiming for a “soft” shot of the casuarina fronds in the breeze.Pure luck, of course!
I’ve seen a few convertibles, but yesterday would not have been a good day -it rained later! But the Jaguar is very nice as a hard top.I think I could get used to purring along …

  7. Lovely fotos of the festive foliage & fun folks! You look like you’re having a great time! Thanks for sharing these awesome fotos. You’ve done an amazing job of making the ordinary background forests into extraordinary standout works of art. I love the colors of the rosebud & honey locust. Glad to hear your walking companion enjoys strolling with you. Company makes all difference, & your company is delightful! Have a safe trip home as you time travel back to the future.

  8. Happy to report that Di was safely delivered to an airport, and after what appeared to be a minor tussle at the security checkpoint, she went on to her flight homeward! We had an absolutely lovely visit – and my elder-pup will miss his company! Huey (large ginger cat) is also being quite vocal that his chief head-scritcher for the past few days is nowhere to be found!

The visit was an incredible reminder for me as to the power of the connections that can come about via the blogosphere. Although we’d only had a brief meet up a few years back, we’ve been reading each others words for nearly 8 years, and the connection is solid and quite deep. i’ve been estranged from my blog, and rarely have a chance to catch up with my blogmates these days, but Dinah’s stop at Chez Daisyfae was a powerful reminder that i’m missing something quite valuable…

Seeing my hometown through her eyes was pretty brilliant as well – those trees? In my neighborhood. I walk and drive past them daily and rarely notice their beauty – let alone know what the hell they are! Here’s to blogmates, near and far! When there are opportunities to bring yourselves together? Do it….

    • A quick repy (laptop running on battery in kitchen as Ido laundry, drink more coffee and catch up.A little bit.Not much!

I have had a wonderful trip and, yes, what Daisyfae says about the solid friendships that some of us make through the blogosphere are very special. We have plans to take this further. But right bow, our pigs are somewhat anorexic!
Huge thanks to Ms Daisyfae and her offsider for fabulous hospitality.

  12. “til Sunday afternoon” – and because you surely have to fly the long way ’round – it is totally possible that you are still somewhere in the air – ? !
A Jaguar – how peculiar ! Are they really as comfortable as I am told ?

    • Well, I don’t often ride in the Big Cat, but this one is a vast improvement the E-Type.Even my young knees had problems with the E-Type!

    • The silver beast is an ’07 XK… 300 bhp of growling pleasure! Comfy, and quick, she handles like a dream… Heavy, hugs the twisties, and not a straight line on her! i bought it (used) a couple of years ago… and am thinking i really need two things that she can’t give me: standard transmission and a removable top. So there may be a trade in my future… or i’ll just get a big ol’ pick up truck and call it a day!

  13. Did you take the Jag out for a spin? If so, how was driving on the “other” side of the road?

    Like

    • No, I didn’t drive, but the offer was there.I can cope with the “wrong” side on 2 lane roads, but I think American highways are too much for me.Hell! Aussie highways are bad enough! 🙂
